Todd & Thierry's Moab 2019 NAV Spring Training Get-Together

Really great company from Bryna, and Kim Quinlan from up in Burlington VT. Five big days of great riding each at a different trail network, all right from our rental house in town, with the exception of a shuttle out to Navajo Rocks on our last day (road-burning it back afterwards). Day1: Amasa Back, with the rip out to PotHole Arch and back on RockStacker, with the gnar' Captain Ahab descent. Day2: Porcupine Rim (with the Sand Flats gravel climb up and the occasional push through the snow on the traverse over with only a single tire track ahead to be among the very first making the descent for the season). Day3: SlickRock in some high winds, just beating some brief afternoon showers (with Thierry adding on the Pipedream trail right on the southwestern edge of trail afterwards). Day4: Moab BRANDS trails including some great moonscape rock with Arches National Park backdrop. Day5: Navajo Rocks, undeterred by some early threatening weather ending up with a great full-loop ride and descent down 7-Up. Incredible first experience for me (Thierry) in Moab, very challenging and interesting trails with incredibly striking backdrop scenery, the friendliest residents in town, and great support from Rim Cyclery shipping our bikes in&out and having everything a MTBer might find himself short on for the daily outings. Got a great survey of a bunch of stuff, though not all and certainly need to make the trip back to hit some Magnificent 7 and other trails still closed with recent snow up high and on the north-facing slopes...and give some serious thought to the GoldBar Rim and Portal descent. (Thx Kim too for any pics also capturing me as well among these!)

Such a windy day up on SlickRock, Kim took the A-line off the track at one point catching a little air, but with her wheels then becoming like a sail for the wind to pull her bike out from under
