Thierry, Bryna and I carpooled down to CT yesterday for the Root 66/Kenda Cup Fat Tire Classic. The weather was perfect, the race drew big, fast fields, and the trails were a blast.
Thierry took 12th in the Cat. 1 Masters 50+
I came in 13th in the Cat. 1 Masters 40+. I was quite happy with this, starting out near the back of a nearly 40 racer field, only to get relegated further back after a crash in the first 50 yards. It actually made for a fun race, picking people off pretty much all day. Thankfully, despite there being a lot of twisty singletrack, there were also plenty of opportunities to pass. I could have used a few more laps!
Bryna, gets listed last here, but only for racing in some other kit! She crushed it, coming in 4th behind the likes of Crystal Anthony and Karen Potter. She wasn't too far behind either of them. 4th in a strong women's pro field - phenomenal!
This got me all excited about racing the mountain bike more this year...
For starters, we'll have a nice big NAV crew at the Battle at Burlingame 6 hour race is this Sunday.
