A foreshadowing occurred when Matt, age 13, took his 10-speed Ross Compact into the dirt for the first time. Nineteen years later he is honored to have a national cyclocross title and play in the Cat 2 road ranks. Although a MTB racer since 1995, Matt discovered road racing and cyclocross in 1998 when he moved back to Boston, akin to finding his athletic home. - 5th in the Fitchburg GC (Cat 4),
- 3rd place in two big New England Classics (Jiminy Peak and Housatonic Hills) (cat 3)
- In 2005 as a Cat 2, finished the tour of Connecticut in 55th place overall
- In 2008 won the Stafford Springs 1/2/3 criterium

- 3rd in the 2003 and 2005 US nationals Masters 30-34 race
- 19/21st in the 2005/2006 Elite Mens national championship race
- 7th in the 2008 US Nationals Masters 30-34 race
- 1st in the 2009 Elite Masters cyclocross race at Highland Park, NJ
- 1st in the 2009 Elite Masters cyclocross race at Southampton, LI
Occasionally, he likes to hang with his wife, stretch and sleep when not training or werking.
